The CENELEC EN 50128 standard applies to both safety-related and non-safety-related areas – This is why the EN 50128 standard introduces SSIL0, which relates to software applications with no safety requirements – and exclusively to software and the interaction of the software application with the system as a whole.

This standard recommends the implementation of a "V" cycle from specification to software testing.
