4. Signage project design process
Signalling systems are "safety" systems, and as such belong to the realm of complex industrial systems. Perfectly mastering this complexity and safety requires a highly demanding design process.
The preliminary design phase (EPR) process takes as its input an "operating program" supplied by the project owner. This program is an expression of requirements in terms of traffic capacity, types of traffic, automatic operating systems, etc.
The deliverable produced by the design engineering department at the EPR stage is a program known as the "signalling summary program", the purpose of which is to summarize the Owner's requirements in terms of track plan and signalling functionalities.
