4. System controls

MATLAB includes a number of commands that are equivalent to system commands. Under Windows, for example, you can use delete, type, dir, etc. As MATLAB is multi-platform, some Unix commands are also accepted under Windows, e.g. pwd, what, ls, etc.

To execute any system command, it must be preceded by an exclamation mark! (figure 15 ).

The same applies to launching an executable (.exe file) from a MATLAB command line.
