7. Molecular engineering

An important part of developing new materials is optimizing their formulation and morphology. However, to best meet the specifications imposed by the applications envisaged, it is useful to synthesize new compounds. The development of new energetic molecules is costly because of the precautions required in their handling. The initial stages are made all the more difficult by the fact that, in the absence of a rigorous characterization of the product's hazardousness, it must be studied in very small quantities. In-depth characterization requires the availability of sufficient material.
