Équivalent redox ou acido-basique; redox or acid-base equivalent

1 redox equivalent or 1 acid-base equivalent corresponds to 1 mole of exchangeable particles (electrons, hydronium or hydroxide ions) in a redox or acid-base reaction involving a specific compound in the reaction medium with the following properties: oxidizing, reducing, acid or base.

gram per equivalent of a chemical compound; Équivalent-gramme d'un composé chimique

1 gram equivalent of a chemical compound is equal to the weight of compound exchanging 1 redox or acid-base equivalent in a given redox or acid-base reaction. The unit is the gram/equivalent.

Examples from paper chemistry:

  • the weight of the gram equivalent of NaOH is 40 g, because this compound with a molar mass of...
