3. Classification and calculation methods
The classification of handling equipment is a rational system that enables manufacturers to design structures and mechanisms, and end-users to select equipment at the time of purchase, according to known or assumed operating conditions (see ISO 4301 standard summarized below).
ISO 4301 is the classification adopted for lifting equipment in the European Community.
