4. Conclusion

We have only been able to present a limited number of concepts and strategies developed by SSAA over the last twenty-five years. However, they should suffice for the engineer to consider using them when the aims and methods of his work appear to require the choice of new directions. What may be tempting about this approach is that SSAA does not offer ready-made solutions, but rather calls for a kind of rediscovery and reconstruction of this science within its own discipline. The benefits will not be limited to those who have accomplished this task, since each of these rediscoveries will have repercussions (as we have already seen) in the enrichment of the concepts and strategies in question, which will then become available to all participants in this movement. The multiplicative rather than additive effect of these contributions suggests what the dominant paradigm or episteme might be at...
