3. Applications

To date, the Field Bus Fondation field bus has made it possible to communicate between sensors in the same segment. As a result, it is much in demand for decentralized sensor processing. The example shown below is an application implemented using the Field Bus Foundation network.

3.1 Decentralized processing in the sensor

The decentralization of processing in intelligent instrumentation proposed by manufacturers is designed to facilitate the porting of processing in the PLC or controller to the instrument, with little or no disruption to the user.

To achieve this, processing is carried out using function blocks defined, for example, in the IEC 61804 standard for the EDDL description language.
