In most cases, the transition from an industrial technology already mastered by the company to a new, unknown technology is beyond the reach of a small or medium-sized business.

Design office staff need to learn new design methods, operators need to know how to use new machines and tools, maintenance technicians need to completely overhaul their practices, and everyone needs to talk to suppliers and/or customers about issues they don't master.
