3. Organization of washing and filling of PI drums
Drums with built-in plungers are not washed in the same way as drums with removable plungers. That is, on a simple transfer machine, which transports the unloaded drum from station to station above rotating injectors, which treat its internal surface by successively spraying it with pressurized jets of various solutions (cold or hot) of detergents and pre-rinse or rinse water.
In the case of drums with built-in plungers, the drum is fed to the various processing stations with the plunger in place.
All the packaging functions (washing, sterilizing, pressurizing and filling) can be grouped together on a single station, or they can be separated and performed on three (or four) stations, each of which performs one, or a limited number, of the washing, sterilizing and filling sequences.
