Most of the terms used in this article have already been defined, and we'll just mention the most frequently used ones below.

• AFNOR definitions

  Good (NF EN 13306:2017); item

  Element, component, mechanism, subsystem, functional unit, equipment or system that can be described and considered individually.

  Routine maintenance (NF EN 13306:2017); routine maintenance

  Simple, regular or repeated preventive maintenance activities.

  Équipement (NF X60-012:2006); equipment

  A set of goods, or a part of a good that has already been split up, considered individually and providing one or more elementary required functions.
