4. Conclusion

Many additives are used in SMC/BMC formulations.

Depending on the desired effect, wetting/dispersing additives, anti-separation agents or processing additives are used, alone or in combination.

In general, the industry has found :

• that a large number of process and/or formulation problems/difficulties can be solved through the use of additives;

• that changing the characteristics of the manufacturing process can open up opportunities for a wide range of applications;

• that improving the manufacturing process always leads to a reduction in costs.
