1. Bonding materials

In industries that use composite materials, there is a need to bond various materials and parts, not just composites, such as :

  • sandwich panel skins, which can be :

    • aluminum or alloy sheet metal,

    • thermosetting laminates (polyester-glass or graphite-epoxy or other phenolic-glass for high fire resistance),

    • thermoplastic composites, more rarely ;

  • various honeycombs: aluminum, Nomex (based on aramid or Kevlar fibers) ;

  • curved composite parts, stiffeners, pultruded profiles, made from thermosetting prepregs, which must then be bonded or laminated by co-curing (simultaneous curing of resin, composite and adhesive). This is called composite-on-composite bonding;...
