In civil engineering, the 1950-1980 period was followed by a phase of consolidation. The mass construction of engineering structures, large buildings and industrial facilities has given way to maintenance operations, which often entail the need for structural reinforcement. There are many examples of such operations, whether to repair damaged structures or simply to comply with increasingly stringent codes.
