2. Different reinforcement mechanisms

The rheological and mechanical effects of reinforcement vary greatly depending on the type of stress to which the filled material is subjected. The addition of fillers to an elastomer has a strong impact on the static and dynamic properties of the samples (see article Characteristics of elastomers [K 380] ). Thus, under oscillatory deformation, the reinforcement mechanism observed depends on the frequency of the applied deformation signal and/or its amplitude. These observations suggest that several reinforcement contributions are involved in the overall behavior of the loaded elastomer.
