2. Elementary conductor or wire

Two types of extrusion lines are used: those that produce elementary wires by depositing insulation on an elementary conductor, and those that deposit sheathing on wires joined together to produce a cable.

The elementary conductor can be a single strand (solid conductor) or an assembly of stranded elementary strands to increase the conductor's flexibility.

In the case of solid conductors, drawing followed by annealing is often carried out in tandem (in-line) with the insulation line. In the case of stranded conductors, assembly is generally carried out in an upstream operation, sometimes in tandem.
