2. Dispersive mix

As we shall see in paragraph 3, a distributive mixing operation can be treated in a very general way, whatever the nature of the phase to be dispersed. This is not the case with dispersive mixing, which requires a specific approach, depending on the nature of the material to be dispersed. Indeed, a carbon black aggregate, a lamellar clay or a molten polymer nodule will not evolve in the same way. In fact, the dispersed phase undergoes hydrodynamic stresses in the flow which, when greater than the filler's internal cohesive stress, may cause it to break up. Depending on the type of filler, the cohesive stress may be of different kinds (hydrogen bonding, Van des Walls force, molecular entanglement...) and therefore more or less resistant.
