1. How would you describe the orientation of the fibers?

This section presents the mathematical tools traditionally used to describe the orientation state of fibers. After discussing the description of an isolated fiber, statistical distributions for groups of fibers will be addressed. Two options are available to us: the orientation distribution function and orientation tensors. The concept of tensorial description allows us to predict fiber orientation and present experimental data, and therefore plays a major role in the rest of this document.
