3.1 The challenges of 3D design
Plastronic technologies are distinguished from standard electronics by the three-dimensional nature of their circuits. Where traditional electronics are limited to stacked planar architectures, plastronics lead to complex circuit shapes. As a result, traditional digital electronics design tools are ill-suited to the design of plastronic parts.
The design of plastronic devices is complex, combining electronic and mechanical design, as well as the product shaping process.
