4. Applications

The first major PC boom came in the early 2000s with a number of applications, such as the demand for CDs and DVDs, and transparent applications for vehicles, which saw annual growth rates of 40% and 20% respectively in the early years of the century. Other applications, such as car headlamps, authorized from 1995 onwards, also contributed strongly to the PC's strong start.

Since 2008, digital media, polycarbonate's main market, has been declining in relative value, to the benefit of other future applications, notably in the automotive industry.

The evolution of the main PC applications between 2006 and 2012 is shown in table 3 .
