1.1 Sizing and surface treatments

The reinforcements used to make up composite materials (mainly glass and carbon, and more recently natural reinforcements) generally undergo surface modifications after manufacture (sizing and surface treatments), which play an essential role in creating the reinforcement/matrix bond (or interface).
