3. Long-term mechanical behaviour

Experience shows that the quality of the reinforcement/matrix interface (e.g. the nature of the surface treatment or fiber sizing) has an exacerbated influence on long-term behavior under permanent mechanical loading (static or dynamic, alone or coupled with environmental stresses), very often much more marked than on instantaneous mechanical behavior, whatever the reinforcement/matrix system considered.

Note :

For further information on characterizing long-term mechanical behavior, please refer to the articles Mechanical testing of plastics: Long-term characteristics and toughness. , Testing of reinforced plastics , Dynamic tests on composites and .
