2. General-purpose rubbers

Natural rubber (NR) and its synthetic counterpart IR on the one hand, and the synthetic rubbers SBR, BR, EPDM, IIR, NBR and CR on the other, represent the rubbers in common use.

2.1 Natural rubber (NR)

Natural rubber is very important both in terms of production (11 million tonnes in 2012, compared with 15 million tonnes for synthetic rubbers) and use, particularly in passenger and truck tires, anti-vibration mounts and all latex applications (gloves, etc.).
