5. Techniques for joining, finishing and bending sandwich parts

Flat or slightly curved sandwich panels produced using the manufacturing technologies described above generally require finishing operations on the edges, joining and connecting to other sandwich or non-sandwich parts, right-angle bending, and more. The principles of the applicable methods are outlined below.

5.1 Joining and connecting methods

Sandwich panels can be bonded to each other, or even to other monolithic parts, using a range of methods illustrated below in the case of honeycomb cores. Their principles are essentially equally applicable to the adhesive bonding of sandwiches with foam cores.
