Definitions

Width: width of film

Bubble, sheath: name given to the film between the die and the pinch rollers.

The use of blown film technology began in the early 1940s. The first films were made from polyethylene to produce watertight packaging with good low-temperature durability. Visking Corporation is credited with being one of the first companies to develop this type of process. A schematic diagram of sheath blowing is shown in figure 1
