Abiotic (process); abiotic

In an ecosystem, refers to one or more physico-chemical factors, independent of life, such as the action of water, wind, sunlight, temperature, etc.

Anthropic (process); anthropic

In an ecosystem, refers to phenomena linked directly or indirectly to human activity.

Biosolids; biosolids

Biosolids are solid sludges from wastewater treatment that have undergone further purification or "stabilization" (suggesting "better" quality, according to some organizations). This matrix differs from sewage sludge in that it contains less water and pathogens. A term commonly used in the United States, notably by the US-EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency), biosolids can be used as such, or composted before final application.
