Full-scale tests can be carried out to approximate actual dimensions and simulate the installation conditions of a product and its environment in a structure, in order to represent a reference scenario.
These tests are generally quite expensive, but they are very useful when laboratory or intermediate-scale tests are insufficient to provide information on a product's fire behavior that can be linked to safety objectives.
Full-scale tests can also be used to reproduce a reference scenario, on the basis of which a classification system for the fire behavior of products intended for a given industrial sector can be constructed. In this case, the laboratory or intermediate-scale tests used to characterize the fire behavior of the products in question must be matched to the full-scale tests.
