1. Preparation

1.1 Polymers

There are two types of thermoplastic polyester commonly used in injection moulding, whose abbreviations have been standardized by ISO 1043:

  • PBT: poly(1,4-butanediol terephthalate)

  • PET: poly(ethylene glycol terephthalate)

The general chemical structure of PBTs and PETs is as follows:
