7. Conclusions
Scientific deliberations and discussions—often highly spirited and contentious—conducted within international and national multidisciplinary groups have, after more than fifteen years, led to the adoption of a comparative methodological approach for assessing the safety of GMOs.
No publication whose protocol and/or results are recognized by the scientific community has been able to provide evidence of a proven risk from the GMOs for which an application for authorization to grow or place on the market has been submitted. The assessments conducted lead to the conclusion that these GMOs do not pose any greater health risks than the common foods with which they can be compared. A fairly comprehensive presentation of the data obtained can be found in the EFSA report .
