5. Identify properties, reference data and regulatory thresholds for products/substances

These properties will enable you to carry out exposure assessments for humans and the environment and/or plan controls and measurements:

  • physico-chemical, e.g. flash point, water solubility, density, volatility, explosive limits;

  • toxicological, for example: toxicological reference values, DNEL ( Derivated No Effect Level ) ;

  • ecotoxicological, e.g. PNEC (Predicted No Effect Level);

  • regulatory exposure limit values (binding, non-binding ELVs) ;

  • regulatory emission limit values ;

  • accident: Thresholds for irreversible effects (SEI), lethal effects (SEL), etc;

  • other: quality indices for surface water, drinking water, etc.
