Retention basin

A storage facility designed to temporarily collect contaminated firefighting water or runoff, in order to prevent its immediate discharge into the natural environment and to allow for appropriate treatment.

Watershed; catchment/drainage basin

A geographical area whose stormwater flows into a single outlet (river, lake, estuary), thereby controlling the spread of pollutants carried by runoff following a fire.
