4. Existing regulatory tools

After a brief presentation of the principles of the national IAQ safety-environment plans and the 2013 national IAQ plan, which provide a more precise context for IAQ, and the latest legislative developments gradually integrating IAQ objectives into the building act, the regulatory tools available to date will be detailed. They are presented below according to the logic of indoor air quality management:

  • first of all, we need to limit sources of pollution: health labelling, environmental and health declaration sheets, eco-materials, bans on certain substances (for example, the ban on four carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances: benzene, trichloroethylene, bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) in building materials, and the ban on the use of perchloroethylene in dry cleaners), and in addition, presentation...
