2. Using the FMECA method

The FMECA technique presented in [BM 5 008] can be used to study the risks of programmed systems that have to meet functional safety requirements. It is even, directly or indirectly, recommended or required in numerous standards relating to the functional safety of such systems. It does, however, require some adaptation for use on such systems. These adaptations are the subject of this chapter.
