6. REACH implementation in France
In France, the REACH regulation affects several ministerial departments: environment, occupational health, public health, industry and consumer affairs. Proper implementation requires more efficient organization of the relevant government departments and public expertise. The French authorities have therefore launched a number of initiatives.
6.1 Organization of government services
The Ministry of the Environment is the French competent authority for the REACH regulation, and is therefore the contact for the Commission and the European Chemicals Agency. As such, it participates in ECHA's Management Board, the Member State Committee and the Forum.
