1. Damped vibration system

The determination of dynamic stresses uses the results of the study of a simple (one degree-of-freedom), damped vibratory system subjected to forced excitation.

1.1 Free motion study

Applying the fundamental equation of dynamics to the vibratory system shown in figure 1 gives :

m \frac{d^{2} x}{d t^{2}} + b \frac{d x}{d t} + k x = 0
