3. DI Diesel engine cylinder head design

3.1 Design constraints to be taken into account

The architecture of the cylinder head will be directly impacted by a number of technical choices that need to be known before starting the actual design: material, timing drive, valve train, number of valves per cylinder, position of intake and exhaust manifolds, injection system, blow-by gas decanting system. In addition, the design must be coordinated with that of other parts of the engine, such as the crankcase.
