1. Atmospheric tanks
1.1 General
These are vertical cylindrical tanks with flat bottoms, differentiated by the type of cover.
Open tanks (figure 1 a ) have no roof, and their use is limited to the few liquids that can be exposed to the open air without risk to their quality or to the environment.
Fixed-roof tanks (figure 1 b ) are fitted with a roof, so that volatile, hazardous or polluting liquids are better preserved.
