1. Semi-refrigerated tanks
This storage method is reserved for liquefied gases, which develop high pressures at ambient temperature. These products are stored at a reduced operating pressure, obtained by lowering their temperature using refrigeration machines.
The advantage of this type of storage lies in the increased capacity it affords, thanks to the reduced wall thickness associated with low operating pressures. The quantity of product that can be stored in each unit is increased not only by the greater volume allowed, but also by the higher density of liquids at these temperatures.
The chosen storage temperature lies between that of the fully pressurized product at ambient temperature and that of the fully refrigerated product at its normal boiling point (BM 6 590, figure 1). Generally speaking,...
