8. Conclusion

Some of the processes used to replace the usual operating principles of a conventional reciprocating engine deserve to be more widely integrated into the alternative range of stationary hybrid thermal machines.

We can see that machines with external heat input are back in the spotlight in their preferred priority area of stationary applications. In the field of hybridization and polygeneration, their ability to produce additional mechanical energy at maximum efficiency with a variety of decarbonized heat sources is also a real asset.

If we think in terms of decentralized energy production rather than mobility, we must not neglect life-cycle resource analysis, exergy analysis and short-circuit value cycle analysis.
