1. Ramjet: an aerobic jet engine

1.1 Principle and advantages of the ramjet

The ramjet propels vehicles flying through the atmosphere at high speed (Mach 2 for current operational applications). The air is admitted into an air intake, where it is naturally slowed down and compressed (without a compressor, unlike a turbojet). A fuel is injected into the combustion chamber, where it mixes and burns. Then, a nozzle accelerates this flow of hot gases by expanding it. The propulsive effect is created by the difference in dynalpy flow (momentum [BM 3 001]...
