4. Measurement of electrostatic charge and charge distribution
It is recognized that either the charge distribution or the mass charge of particles plays an important role in their behavior. The presence of bipolar charges can reduce deposition efficiency in electrostatic coating processes. In the powder conveying industry, the presence of bipolar charges leads to fouling and electrostatic discharges, as well as ignition risks. It is therefore essential to have methods for qualifying and/or quantifying the polarity and level of electrostatic charges present within powder particles. This objective can be achieved by various devices described below.
