4. Conclusion
Simulation of additive manufacturing is a multiphysics problem that describes the construction of a 3D edifice with an evolving computational domain. This edifice is large compared to the volume consolidated at each stage of the manufacturing process. The physical phenomena involved in the transformation of the material are manifold and have been described in this article.
Figure 14 summarizes the physical phenomena involved in additive manufacturing. The final state of the part: geometry, microstructure and pore structure, deformation and residual stress depend on these couplings. The sequential sequence of these couplings can be described in 6 steps.
