7. Conclusion

Today, a great deal of phenomenological data has been accumulated on the corrosion of steels by liquid metals, but detailed knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, the associated modeling and the means of combating this corrosion must continue to be developed.

As far as corrosion mechanisms and their modeling are concerned, the models presented in this document are recent and corrosion mechanisms need to be more systematically researched.

In order to understand the mechanisms involved, we first need to carry out finely controlled experimental tests (oxygen and impurity content, liquid metal velocity, temperature, detailed knowledge of the material and its surface condition) over long periods of time, in order to obtain a stationary state for the system.
