8. Other potential damage

The risk of creep is considered to be excluded if the limitations on the working temperature of materials given in Appendix Zl of the RCC-M, which gives the mechanical properties that can be used for dimensioning, are respected. For higher-temperature applications, as encountered in fast-neutron reactors, the RCC-MR includes provisions for taking account of creep, relaxation and fatigue-creep interaction, which are outside the scope of the present dossier.

Other effects can affect the structure's overall or local behavior.

  • In terms of overall behavior, the damage modes likely to affect the targeted safety margins may result from wear, generalized corrosion, erosion-cavitation or corrosion-erosion mechanisms.
