4. Preparatory studies for storage

Long before the search for a site, a storage project involves lengthy fundamental and technological studies, firstly on objects such as packages, engineered barriers and handling equipment for storage packages, and then on the integration of all objects into a concept that can only be technically implemented if we know where and how to dig with specific tools to minimize disturbance to the natural environment. Studies and research are carried out in the laboratory on samples taken and/or on site in underground laboratories.
