4. Applications

Research reactors play an important role in fundamental research, applied research, radioisotope production, analysis and control, reactor physics, education and training. Each of these areas of activity is reviewed, with an indication of the possibilities available for each, depending on the level of flux available.

4.1 Fundamental research

In this field, experimental reactors offer a wide range of possibilities for using the beams generated for research in condensed matter physics and nuclear physics.
