6. Case study: Superphénix

The first commercial-scale prototype power plant with an electrical output of 1,200 MW, Superphénix was built in France, at Creys-Malville, within a European framework (France 51%, Italy 33%, Germany + Belgium + Netherlands 16%); it reached nominal output on December 9, 1986.

The main characteristics of the plant are summarized in the table 3 .
