2. Welding in civil engineering structures

2.1 Brief description of the metal civil engineering components of the reactor and fuel buildings – materials used

There are many metal components used in the civil engineering structures of the reactor building. We shall confine ourselves here to examining the reactor building liner (which ensures radioactive containment) and the pools. Structural and reinforcement elements for reinforced concrete will not be discussed. For the EPR, the design and manufacturing requirements described below are set out in the AFCEN ETCC code .
