1. Wood fuels

1.1 Origins

Numerous wood deposits are available and can be used to produce fuels after a more or less extensive conditioning phase:

  • forestry operations (logging, skidding, pruning, etc.);

  • Primary wood processing (sawmills, panels, etc.);

  • secondary wood processing (joinery, furniture, construction);

  • the packaging industry: pallets, crates... ;

  • demolition and renovation companies;

  • landfills and waste disposal sites.

Of these sources, the first four can easily supply fuel, while the last two most often supply waste that cannot be burned...
