1. Main furnace types

Reheating furnaces can be divided into two groups of unequal importance:

  • batch furnaces to handle very heavy products, and small batches of different quality or dimensions. These furnaces enable :

    • to receive a wide variety of dimensions on their sole;

    • adapt appropriate heating cycles to each load.

    The three main types of batch furnaces are :

    • pits ;

    • dormant ;

    • with movable hearth ;

  • for economical heating of very large runs of identical products, requiring the same thermal cycle.
